Tata Steel International at the Offshore Technology Conference 2010, Houston
18 May 2010
Tata Steel International and Corus Tubes came together once again at the Offshore Technology Conference 2010 (OTC). The two businesses put on a strong show with a contemporary eye-catching booth which drew in hundreds of visitors.
OTC is the world's foremost event for the development of offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, production and environmental protection. The exhibition is held annually at Reliant Park in Houston and this year took place from 3rd to 6th May. Tata Steel International and Corus Tubes have a strong track record in supplying steel solutions for offshore platforms and pipelines built up over many years.
In 2010 the exhibition stand was Tata branded in line with the current brand migration process. OTC was seen as an excellent platform to showcase the brand to this important market and to reinforce the Tata Steel name.
The response at OTC to the new brand was very positive with a constant flow of visitors to the stand. Over the four days the Tata stand was a hive of activity and the official attendance figures reinforce this with guest numbers reaching 72,900 this year - the highest for several years. In terms of exhibition space, this year's OTC was the largest for 28 years, totaling more than 568,000 square feet in both the Reliant Center and Arena.
Once again both Tata Steel International and Corus Tubes combined their skills to showcase their strong product range and service offering to the offshore and energy sectors.
The theme of the stand, Intelligent Steel Solutions continued in 2010. The exhibition stand featured various pods, displaying a cross section of the linepipe manufactured at Hartlepool’s energy mills, as well as other exhibits. These were supported by images showing pipes and sections manufactured by Corus Tubes and the Group. A short video was also displayed on a plasma screen capturing the transition from Corus to Tata Steel.
Overall, the feedback on the event was very positive with many comments on how impressed they were with the stand design, quality and quantity of visitors to the stand and the number of new contacts generated.
